What You Missed at Nike’s Weekend-Long Toma Event
Toma serves as Nike’s free, community-centered soccer platform, giving young soccer players access to the joy and thrill of the sport.
From June 25 to 27, Bryant Park was transformed into Estadio Nike for an immersive weekend of soccer, live music, merch, and interactive pop-ups from clothing brands at Toma New York. ‘Toma el Juego,’ which means ‘Take the game’ in English, serves as Nike’s free, community-centered soccer platform to give young soccer players the access, joy, and thrill of the sport. Since launching in Los Angeles in 2025, the soccer platform has taken only six months to expand to Lima, Mexico City, Seoul, and Santiago.
Players ranged in age from 14 to 18, and BAMBA Sports and Youth 4 Youth FC were the Toma New York champions, playing in the finals on June 27. Players included Mateo Alcantar, Mina Nagashima, Ezzio Tirado, Emory Pitts, Haroon Lamdichi, Asiya Parra, Victoria Ranieri, and more. Despite who won the games, every athlete who played became a Nike athlete, and players and guests celebrated throughout the night, on and off the field.

Toronto’s Northside FC team took home the Toma Finals championship title; Surf Soccer Nation’s Street Phantoms earned the Toma National Finals title. Phantom MVPs included Kevin Correa Furtado and Bayly Powell. There was also a first-time Sinistro Mode 1v1 national championship at the New York Public Library with Megan Marroquinn versus Furtado.
In addition to soccer, live music and fashion made their way into the soccer universe at The Toma Night Market. Here, there were custom clothes by Taller de Rafa x Nike at an auto-care and body-shop pop-up booth inspired by Bronx’s Jerome Avenue in the heart of Bryant Park, featuring Planta Industrial, Greedy Unit, and Louhaichy.
