The International Center for Photography in New York City’s Lower East Side, also known as ICP, is one of the world's most prominent institutions for photography and visual culture. For over 50 years, the ICP has dedicated its multi-floor space to exhibitions, education programs, community outreach, and public programs to preserve the power of imagery and visual arts.

The ICP has three new exhibitions on view until September 13 and September 28, 2026: Andrea Hernández Briceño: Fire Becomes Spirit, Yves Saint Laurent and Photography, and Photobooks USA 2000-25. These exhibitions explore the importance of visual archiving, artists’ impacts, and historic preservation. You can view these exhibitions at 84 Ludlow St., New York, NY.

Andrea Hernández Briceño: Fire Becomes Spirit

A light shines upon the tip of the Huöttöja communal home “churuata” in the Amazonas state, Venezuela, on April 21, 2025.

Andrea Hernández Briceño is a Caracas-based Venezuelan journalist and visual storyteller. Since 2024, she has been documenting the Huöttöja People in the Amazon basin. By building genuine relationships and trust, Briceño was invited into their community to document their traditions, spirituality, and ancestral knowledge, and how they’re preserving them as the mining industry is diluting their land and culture. Following the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, her contributions remain relevant and essential not only to art but also to the politics within it.

Fire Becomes Spirit is on view in ICP’s Incubator on the Ground Floor until September 13.
