1202 MAGAZINE’s Top 20 Standout Armory Show Exhibitors

From September 25 to 27, the Javits Center served as a grand space to showcase artists’ bodies of work from around the world.

The Armory Show was a weekend featuring hundreds of art exhibitors specializing in fine art, sculpture, visual arts, textiles, fibers, objects, and more. From September 25 to 27, the Javits Center served as a grand space to showcase artists’ bodies of work from around the world.

After spending almost six hours at the Armory Show, 1202 MAGAZINE’s standout exhibitors were mostly artists featured in Focus and Platform. Curated by María Elena Ortiz, Focus highlighted solo and dual artists exploring Caribbean communities, history, artistry, and discourse.

Platform, also titled Passages and Thresholds and curated by Jovanna Venegas, displayed large-scale installations and sculptures featuring Caribbean-centered motifs, centering the islands’ vast archipelago of land, sea, mountains, and the people who have inhabited and cherished it for centuries.

In addition to artists in Focus and Platform, 1202 MAGAZINE also encountered (and was mesmerized by) solo and group exhibitions from artists and galleries around the world, including Chile, Kenya, Atlanta, El Salvador, Montreal, the Caribbean, Mexico, and more.
